COMPETITION RULES
COMPETITION DIVISIONS
Dancers are limited to performing only one solo per competition.
Competitors have a grace period of 15 seconds for their routines. An extended time option is allowed at the rate of $5 per person per minute over the time limit, but those who don’t opt for this will receive a 1 point reduction from each judge for every minute over the maximum timeframe.
Checks should be submitted separately for workshop fees and competition fees.
COMPETITION GENRES
**Judges retain the right to adjust the performance division of any routine if they determine it is inaccurately positioned**
AGE DIVISIONS
Dividing the total sum of ages by the number of dancers in an entry yields the average age. When calculating averages, always use whole numbers – after dividing, drop any decimal numbers. As an example, if you calculate a routine’s average age to be 15.5 years old, the routine should compete in the 13-15 year old category.
At VAULT, our age limits are based on the dancer’s age on the date of the event.
In order for an entry to be accepted, all dancer names and respective ages must be provided.
Competing dancers will be required to present a valid birth certificate as proof of identity should such a request arise.

ADDITIONAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
In order to compete, a dancer must be registered for ALL convention classes.
It is important to make sure that routines are suitable for all audiences, and correspond to the age group of the participants. Judges may take appropriate action – i.e. point deductions or disqualifications – if a routine does not adhere to this policy.
Competitors may wish to dance in more than one city per season; however, any routine which has placed first overall may only be performed once in the same season.
Competing dancers are required to perform in their allocated order, unless VAULT authorizes a number hold for the purpose of allowing appropriate time for costume changes.
We have set aside a designated seating area for all teachers and studio owners.
The use of visual coaching is prohibited.
Studio credits are granted at the sole discretion of VAULT. All sales are final, and we do not issue refunds. No exceptions.
No entries will be accepted via email.
Competitors must submit any competition changes two weeks before the event. No modifications will be accepted after this date.
VAULT reserves the right to modify, add or remove any of its rules and regulations without prior notification. Final rulings will be determined by the Director at VAULT’s discretion.
